2019
(8–11 November)
Friday – Binningup First Nine
The quality field stood upon the first tee ready to start the 15th Binningup Open 5 minutes early. Perfect weather . . . mid-twenties and wondering how Phil would get across the creek. We didn't have to wait long, he did it with aplomb. Jacko, being the lowest handicapper, opened the event with a lowest handicapper-type drive and consequently won the first long drive. His form continued, cleaning up the first NTP on the next hole. And, after 3 holes, Ron (with the long drive) and Chris had all the novelties and were neck-and-neck with 7 points at which point Ron should have gone home, the rest of his game being ordinary at best.
Chris was solid but wiped holes 5 and 6 while Walks was also solid wiping only the 1st . . . BUT scored a 4 for 4 by hitting par on the hardest hole on the course!

Early trouble |
Done and dusted |
Phil had 3-pointers on 3 holes and won his first ever long drive with the GBW. He was stoked. Talking about being stoked, Macca sunk an 8,000 millimetre putt to score a birdie on the 6th. Otherwise he will be remembered for cheering those who had the misfortune along the way.
Saturday – Bunbury Golf Club
It was predicted to be hot – 36 degrees – and it was. But a breeze kept not only the flies away but helped ease the heat.
Phil was hot with his 34 points and Ron loved his finish with a 3 for 4 points on the 9th (having started the round on the back 9). Jacko had an un-Jacko day, particularly on the par 3's while Walks and Macca were obviously there for "the hunting".
The greens were fantastic, the game played in 4 hours and included a "play lunch" with sandwiches.

Sunday – Sanctuary
Perfect day for golf, weather mid-twenties, the down side being the course was busy, so much so at the 11th that we joined forces to play a fivesome. What a disaster! Ron and Chris were at each other's throat; Walks talked on Macca's downswing; and poor old Phil was relentlessly reminded of his (according to Chris) generous handicap. As if things couldn't get worse . . . Chris hung on to the flag with his left hand and putted his ball with the other . . . shock horror!!!

Phil finally played to his handicap scoring 37. The rest of us were pretty ordinary . . . obviously heat struck from the day before.
Monday – Binningup Second Nine
Lovely cool morning and off to the tee, except Ron who didn't even make the creek, at 7.55 a.m.
Between the five of us, we managed only 2 points on the first (10th) hole and that was Macca. When we reached the 14th, we were starting to play golf with all of us scoring 2 points each. In the end, 5 points separated first and last.

The winning putt |
Binningup greens were in great nick particularly after the weekend traffic.
It was a small but quality field. Looking forward to a larger group when Binningup 2020 rolls around, but not before the eagerly awaited MANDURAH MASTERS.
